MOON

A FULL MOON LACKS TOPOGRAPHICAL SHADOWS,

making it impossible to see most features on its face.

THE LINE DIVIDING THE LUNAR DAY AND NIGHT
IS CALLED THE ” TERMINATOR.”
Best viewing of geographical features
on the moon is along this line.

NOTICE HOW THINGS STAND OUT IN SHADOW.

SEE  HOW MUCH  BETTER THE VIEW  IS AT THE TERMINATOR.

VIRTUAL MOON ATLAS (FREEWARE!)

Below is a screenshot of

“VIRTUAL MOON ATLAS LIGHT”

The full, rather top-heavy version of VMA’s free software can be
half a GIG in size, but this 6.5 Meg version does what I need,
and with just one download, too:  What you see here is the
actual moom phase when this screenshot was made.

You can opt for labels and info,

and magnify to 4x, besides.
